Oh look, the monkey is starting to understand basic macroeconomics. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

This makes a lot of sense, and it's convinced me to cut Governor Whitmer some slack.

"They say great times make great men. I don't buy it. I saw a lot of weakness, a lot of filth. People who should have risen to the challenge and either couldn't or wouldn't. Greed, fear, stupidity, and hate." - Max Brooks, "World War Z" Real life imitates art.

"This is what arbitrary, absolute power looks like. And this is why the men who wrote the Constitution never wanted anyone to have it" www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

Agreed - if you're Democrat and you voted for this, you need to be primaried/defeated. If you're a Republican, like Jen Kiggans or Rob Wittman, who voted for this, you need to be defeated in November 2026! bluevirginia.us/2025/04/frid... h/t @thomaszimmer.bsky.social

Pilot puts plane into a nosedive, pulls out at the last minute, saunters back into the cabin looking for high fives from the vomit covered passengers.

🚨House Republicans just passed a bill that would disenfranchise 70 million married American women. Under the SAVE Act, women who took their spouse’s last name and don't have an updated passport or birth certificate would be turned away at the polls.

The Dow is down 1000 points. Let's check in on what the Trump administration is focused on

What. The. Fuck.

Number of people who go bankrupt every year because of medical bills or illness-related work loss: Australia 0 Canada 0 Denmark 0 Finland 0 France 0 Germany 0 Iceland 0 Ireland 0 Italy 0 Japan 0 Netherlands 0 Norway 0 Portugal 0 Spain 0 Sweden 0 UK 0 United States 530,000 There’s a lesson there.

“they are getting rich directly off the market chaos that’s ruining your retirement and gutting your investments” is the kind of shit that makes people very angry

I'm increasingly seeing ICE do the same things US troops did in the early stages of Operation Iraqi Freedom: overly aggressive raids based on flimsy intelligence, with few avenues for restitution for anyone wrongly targeted. www.fox5dc.com/news/watch-i...

I'd bet that, on a gut level, EVERY American understands this. But. . . 30% of the country is cheering for it. And the remaining 70% is reacting 1 of 2 ways: 1) Speaking out against it 2) Shutting up and pretending it's not happening - so THEY won't get picked off someday

Reminder that Greg Abbott is holding Houston’s congressional seat hostage (wouldn’t set the date for a special election, finally did, but not until November to fill TX-18) because he doesn’t like that they will elect a Democrat to the House.

ICEstapo.

Let's not forget about the figurative bomb-throwers at Fox News and their clones. For years, they radicalized their viewers by making them resent and distrust the other 70% of the country, without any regard for where this course of action would ultimately lead.

Trump's 10 percent "baseline" tariffs will have no impact except to jack up prices for Americans. They give us no negotiating leverage. They will not move 1 single manufacturer job to America. Trump's tariff gambit is one of the great blunders in American economic policy history.

okay now that you all have gotten a taste of America's rational and predictable new trade policy, everyone who wants to build your new factories here just form an orderly line

Actual footage of the White House crafting its economic policies

And when they don't pay taxes, ICE can deport them for being criminals.

“He only hits me to discipline me. He really loves me.” The Press Corps are trying to rationalize an abusive relationship.

Saw five deer on my walk to work this morning. What a cool start to the day.

It's National Public Health Week, the saddest one in memory. We have lost a generation of scientists and public servants, whose institutional memory and works in progress will be lost to our nation with their abrupt dismissals www.bmj.com/content/389/...
