This is great. Iβm wondering if the IIRC can fast track permanent residency or citizenship for doctors, healthcare workers, and medical researchers. (Probably already doing it)
Start recognizing the credentials of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologists in Canada and your anesthesia provider shortage will disappear overnight. We provide 75% of all anesthesia in the US, and have for 150 years.
Canada has lost skilled workers and professionals to the U.S. for years in a well-established βbrain drain,β hopefully some of those folks would like to come back home.β€οΈπ¨π¦π
How about letting experienced transgender care givers, too poor to afford traditional immigration, claim asylum w/o sending us back to "safe" blue states? I have graduate degrees, years as a DSP/HHA, & not a dime to my name. I am facing criminalization based on who I am. Let me in to work.
Unfortunately Canada won't take disabled folks who are unable to work. But I get it. Maybe WA state will get lucky and you guys can annex us, lol. If I were to lose a doctor, hopefully it's to you guys.
I believe they may be in Quebec. Check the Government of Canada Immigration website Express Entry for list of occupations that qualify for the program.
Go to the Government of Canada Immigration website-look for Express Entry for permanent residency to see all of the occupations that qualify. Fyi, French speaking is not required but is an asset. It's worded a but weird on the website.
Canada is recruiting teachers via the federal government in a program called Express Entry for permanent residency. They are also recruiting trades. The wording is a bit confusing. You do not have to speak French. It is an asset, though. Info is at the Government of Canada Immigration website.
That's wonderful. Wish I could have afforded to education to get into nursing in the US to take advantage of this, lol. Oh well. I'm delighted for anyone fleeing this shithole country to go to beautiful Canada! π
Another thing to note, our malpractice laws are different so Doctors donβt pay crippling malpractice insurance. BC is a great province to live in. Think Washington state but bigger
Also our violent crime rate is 8.6 violent crimes per 100,000 people
VS Seattle
736 per 100,000 in 2022.
You donβt have to stress about sending your kids to school
Depends on how u measure cost. Yes our housing is comparable to Seattle( although with your dollar worth 1.30 CDN) you could come out ahead and our medical coverage is practically free. Cost of food same or less- think eggs. Ed system is good.
I was there way back in the 1990s and it reminded me of Colorado. Absolutely beautiful. If I could qualify to move to Canada now (which sadly I donβt), BC is without a doubt where I would go.
Yes! More countries need to follow suit and you should add any professionals because there is a wealth of knowledge and experience now available to add to your citizenry - itβs a steal!
That's a comforting thought, at least. I'm hesitatant to make serious plans because I worry about those who can't leave the US and need defending. I will say that Canada's response to this whole mess gives me hope, however. β‘
I just encouraged another American to take advantage of the fast track plan for medical professionals in BC. Sounds like a lot of good people in the US have had enough.
on a side note does someone with 100 credits at community college + 3.9 GPA + tutoring and farm/farm-market work (and some random other jobs over the years) but no higher degrees have a shot? Dropped out of a 4-year / potential BSChem degree during covid, probably paying the price for that now lol
Interesting.. I thought all physicians needed to do a residency and any special fellowships and take boards if they practiced in another country. If they are taking GP and nurses, GPs in the US tend to be c students, and the travel nurse paradigm has made nurses greedy and not patient-centric.
BC bumped up the pay considerably last year but I donβt know if it will be enough to attract them back for pay alone esp
In CDN $. But our lifestyle is safe and dictator free which may be a bonus. As for snow BC is the warmest province in Canada.
I am a former caregiver that had to give up the profession due to spine correction surgery but I would be willing to step back into that role if it means getting out of this shit show. Plus I bet in Canada I would not be forced to dead lift patients by myself
At least you'd have access to care after ruining your shoulder/knees/soul.
And I feel you on the lifting-in my heyday, I could flip & bathe a 250 lb intubated/ sedated man & change his sheets by myself in about 20-30 min. That should not have been a fact I ever had to learn.
Well I am drawn to helping people do my soul would be more or less ok not good but ok. Already have a fucked up knee and my half my spine is pins and rods upper spine. So I am guessing that a no go for me then. Oh well
I'm not sure Californians would like our taxes we have to pay for our social safety net. Also, our gun laws would not be popular to the NRA gun nuts in that state.

Iβll dip out this week if you can line something up for me and my wife.
Besides, they don't call it Beautiful BC for nothing!

Canada now the promised land for those fleeing gilead.
But seriously. On my face. Iβd do it.
By the way, got room for an old social worker?
Maybe it's time to resurrect the underground railroad again, but, for sane people this time, your colour doesn't matter just your sanity...
I'm nearly certain of it
if there was more money they may already be there
maybe IDK
how freaking cold is it there in the winter?

The US doesn't seem to place much value on teachers...or education.

And as long as hunters can still hunt, the gun thing is negotiable.
But CA, OR, & WA are a package deal.
