HELP. The instructions say to do German short rows but then describe some yarn over and slip business. I’ve only done the slip purlwise and rotate yarn to back to create a ds, GSR. Are they interchangeable? I’m confused 🥲 #knitting #knitsky 🧶

It is pretty interchangeable, the difference is positioning your yarn before and after the wrap, depending on whether you are facing knit stitches or purl stitches.
Oh! I think they are describing the same thing you are doing just in a kinda convoluted way 😵💫 Have you knit it through to see if it works the way you'd normally do it?
Sometimes patterns make my brain creak like there's rusty gears in there lol
I did start it, but I got nervous I was misunderstanding and didn’t want to have to undo too much if I was wrong. In some if the short row videos it talks about subtle differences between SR techniques in when to turn. I messaged the designer but I’m impatient 😬
I think I’ve watched all the videos. 🥲 the issue is, I don’t think she’s actually using a YO SR. She’s just doing a modified GSR. Waiting on an email back!
Interesting. There are so many ways to make shirt ties though. I’d give it a go. I think it’s wonderful to learn different methods of doing the same thing. Earlier this PM I watched yet another method if doing shorts tied without wraps called the Invisible Short Rows. Will try it on my next socks

When I teach knitting workshops, I always describe making the DS as pulling the stitch up so you can see both of its legs 😅🤭
