one of the big problems with learning how to drive is that getting on the road for the first time is just sort of inherently dangerous since there's no way for you to really know what to do.

The sheer amount of shit you have to pay attention to constantly is incredibly stressful at first.

I feel like driving really is just one of those things where it always has to be a trial by fire. You can drive around a parking lot as much as you want, but it wont give you the instincts to survive on the road.

A lot of learning how to drive is less knowing how to operate a vehicle and more learning to pay attention to the 37,000 happening, maintain speed, check mirrors, mak sure you know whats around you, where are you turning, and hey is that dipshit ahead of me about to pull out directly in front of me

its just not possible until you've got it down to muscle memory. You cannot simultaneously think about maintaing speed and when you should start braking all while trying to avoid potential accidents and maintaining a space bubble

Learning to drive is about making all of those tasks automatic

My practical driving exam was putting on my seatbelt, turning the car on, adjusting the mirrors, doing the windshield wipers, spinning the block, a three point turn, a parallel park, and getting out of the parallel park. 8 minutes, passed easily first try.

The other thing I see regularly is people driving like they are in Grand Theft Auto. Classic example happened in Toronto recently, driving like fools too fast on a notoriously bad section of covered hwy downtown. Telsa exploded when they hit a pole. Only one person lived. Also avoidable accident.
