If Yoshi becomes trapped between two very steep slopes in Super Mario World, Mario will inherit his facing direction. This results in Mario constantly looking left and right automatically, appearing to do a dance.

Looking at the game's code, very steep slopes set a "sprite is turning around" timer when touching one. For yoshi, it controls both player and yoshi's direction since it's normally meant to be used when mario turns around while riding yoshi, which is why this oversight occurs.
notably this only happens when yoshi is in his running away state after taking damage. if you simply dismount him into a very steep slope to turn him around this will not change mario's facing direction

a little upsetting it's been more than 30 years though
Now get ready for the "Do The Yoshi!"
Curious what would be the difference in this scenario
