The fact the SMB Encyclopedia yoinked Super Mario Wiki names (even if there was no English ones) baffles me. I understand if Nintendo staff were hard to reach regarding official names, but surely recognising "Lumacomete" was probably not the official English name couldn't have been TOO hard, no?

Anyways, more on topic with the post - I definitely think Walleyes would be an enemy I like more if they kept some of the design traits of the Wallop (the eyes and the smoother brick-like construction), like an "elite Wallop". Also the fact that neither have returned in any game is a shame. :(

Yes, that makes the most sense, alongside of course a pun on the word "wallop"! The Wallop's Japanese name is ドンピョン (Donpyon, "Crash-Bounce") and its internal name is "Kabehei" (Wall Soldier) so "wall" and "hop" also combines those two. Thank you very much for your inquiry!

i'd add that wallops are in the family of spindles (the big rolling enemies found in that one big sand slide in mario galaxy 2) while wallops seems to be a completely different species, having evolved convergedly.

Although walleyes aren't as great of a predator as wallops. Wallops often preys on captain toads' as the lack of the ability to jump make it certain death for the toads.
