One takeaway this morning is that we're way closer to US-style polarization than we've grown accustomed to thinking.
Poilievre didn't win, but the politics he represents — whatever you think of them — are *not* diminished.
I mean, the Conservatives won their largest vote share in nearly 40 years.

It didn't. They should know that.
Also saddened by the decline of NDP vote share & # of seats. I understand when it was a pickup for the Liberals (patriotism?) but Conservatives also benefited 🥺
... because in almost any other election that isn't this unicorn election, it almost certainly would have been.
And there is also a very strong strategic argument for moderation. (But I'm not sure I would expect this version of the party to embrace it.)
Still: Yes, the CPC would risk getting crushed from the right.
They need to be disciplined and organized in reaching out to groups of voters they may have lost over the years and grow their coalition.
(I’m thinking it, but my big thumbs ain’t typing it!)
Conservatives - 37% 165 seats
Liberals - 32% 145 seats
Bloc - 2% 18 seats
NDP - 14.5% 13 seats
Green - 7.5% 2 seats
Most interesting thing - in 2021 NDP won 107 seats - total collapse for them, with votes going to CON.
Young people are leaning to the right...
