This map doesn't explain the full picture because a lot of blue states that have high Medicaid coverage is because those states either have good state coverage and/or make it easier for people in need to qualify. Many red states make the process so restrictive that hardly anyone can use Medicaid.
A better map would also compare health outcomes between states that rely more on Medicaid and those that don't. I live in a blue state with high Medicaid coverage and we are one of the healthiest in the country. Our neighboring red state has low coverage and some of the worst health outcomes.
My worry is that repubs will use this map thinking that they don't need Medicaid bc they don't have many enrollees and I why not punish those blue states.
