Harris ran the most centrist-ass campaign completely devoid of policy of any Dem presidential nominee I've seen in my 38 years on this planet, but people keep lying about her being some radical pro-trans crusader
Hate & ignorance won the election, not Dems support (or non-support) for Trans people having human rights. Dems who want to be leaders need to wake up & recognize the hate & ignorance will not go away if they abandon the Trans community. It should not take "courage" to do the right thing here
I feel like I'm going insane because I didn't save receipts but didn't she say she was against some aspect of healthcare for trans kids on her campaign website
Not sure but I'm still on how she called for the abolition of for profit prisons and then I guess forgor? And she said it again in the vp debate I believe
Not that I remember. I remember that her campaign website more or less just omitted any mention of trans people beyond saying she supported the equality act
Anyway, my position is simple: I'm not going to ever vote for a politician that won't explicitly state that people like me deserve civil rights. Never happening again.
That's absolutely reasonable. I wouldn't vote for a candidate who wanted to take away my rights, and I don't think anyone should be expected to do otherwise.
I absolutely agree that everyone deserves civil rights. That said, Donald Trump is president today thanks to every voter who had that *one thing* they decided to stand firm on, no matter the consequences.
counterpoint, if dems couldn't even be bothered not to materially support and arm a genocide, why on earth would I expect them to defend my civil rights?

Not only is that incredibly simplistic reasoning, it's an absurd comparison. Congress could have done more but, for reasons I will never fully understand, Israel has had a stranglehold on the US government for decades.
Could Biden have done more to protect trans rights? Absolutely. Should Harris have been blamed for his mistakes? No. Running for president is like juggling a dozen rabid monkeys. Your first priority is to get elected because you can't do a damn thing for anyone if that doesn't happen.
I wouldn't vote for a candidate that wanted to eliminate a woman's reproductive freedom. Are you saying you have no bottom line? Because that's pretty pathetic, if so. Maybe you should stand for something.
Pro-life voters would never vote Democrat.
If Democrats can't stand up for everyone that they want to vote for them then they shouldn't expect those people to stand up for them. If you think someone should vote for someone who doesn't support them you are part of the problem.
Trump is potus today bc the majority of white usa-ians voted for the white supremacist bigot party.
Not bc of trans folks, not bc of folks who refused to vote for genocide parties, but bc the majority of white usa-ians voted for the white supremacist bigot party.
Yeah, I might be with you, at least for President/Governor - things where it's one person instead of part of a whole. And for the rest, well, that's why we have primaries.
And that was one mention apiece at two separate SOTU addresses and a handful of comments in Oval Office television addresses. Pretty low bar, and Harris couldn't even clear THAT.
Yes, why should I trust that they have my back if they can't even put us in the platform? If you can't say our names in the campaign, how hard are you going to fight to protect our rights? 2026 is going to suck when the argument is "ok trans rights are dead but what about LGB rights??"
I genuinely think people just see 'Black woman' and project a bunch of positions onto her that not only did she not represent but she spent much of the campaign actively disavowing.
I know the answer to that. She's a woman. And not only that, she's black too! *GASP!
The sorry truth of the matter is that millions upon millions of Americans are still deeply misogynist and racist.
It would have been really nice if she had been, losing while upholding your values is significantly better than losing while selling out the people who are being unfairly attacked which looks like the Newsom plan.
Comments
literally.

They're the fucking problem.
