they were written in like the late 80’s so i’m not damning them, but i do think that attitudes and approaches to parenting are better now than they were then
ive been reading them to my little boys, honestly they're fine and we still love them EXCEPT for there being one part where they play 'cowboys and indians' that makes me cringe a little.
In particular I was actually really happy about Little Critter and the Bully. He tells the teacher about the bullying , but the book is the only realistic one that addresses that this - and it happens in the story - just makes the bullying worse and more insidious. eventually he throws hands.
i don’t like the one where the little critter is sad and says “i wanted to cry but i didn’t i was brave instead” that’s not a great lesson but it is old school
Those books always smelled the same and it was always strange and kind of gross. No matter if they were new, in my bookshelf forgotten for 10 years, a doctors office, at school, they ALWAYS had that smell and i’ve never smelled any other books/anything like that. I dont even know how to describe it
It's very silly reading the comments, recognizing the character but not their name, and just seeing people be like "It's little critter" like, I know they're critter-like, but what's their name?
Oh yeah! Maybe they’re just kinda hanging around in the background? I gave it away a few years ago to a friend’s kid. That book has some pretty great illustrations.

That is the name.
Professor Wormbog was my favorite book growing up, it's covered in crayon and pencil marks. God I'm old. Neat to meet someone else who remembers it!
