Funny to hear @philcaplan.bsky.social ask what on earth people outside the sport think about it. I don’t think that people outside the sport either care or think anything about it. It’s almost invisible these days. #rugbyleague

Isn’t that how it is with all sports nowadays? I know people who have Sky Sports and have never watched a darts match. I’ve never seen a game of women’s soccer & couldn’t tell you any more than I vaguely recall England winning a tournament maybe 3 years ago. And these are ‘boom sports’ apparently.

Agree. I think most people have vague headlines from soccer (I know Liverpool are doing well at the moment & think Man City not so much) but that’s because it is everywhere. Away from that, people tend to be in their own sport’s bubble.

Do you not think that Matchroom would provide better broadcasting opportunities for our game compared to the decreasing Sky contracts?

I believe they can unlock our stars and get them into the back pages as I can’t see anything else that would.

Would love to hear an in-depth pod about the 2000 RLWC.
Scotland not having 1 Scottish born player.
Lebanon being included although no RL was played there.
NZ Maori not even being a nation.
Wales bringing in RU players half way thru the tournament.
Playing games in Gloucester, Watford & Reading etc
