Isn't it? If you want to impose extreme measures, but think people will only accept them in the direst of circumstances, the obvious play is to create those dire circumstances. After all, disaster capitalists need disasters to capitalise upon...
yep always because for whatever reason millions who voted trump did not think what the dems were saying was true (see brexit) well FAFO as prices rise and their 401's slump, seen the market in last hour
Gonna be a sh*t-ton of FAFO over the next few months! Can’t see them making it to 2028 at this rate without tearing down the republic on the way there…
anything that reduces demand is bad, and 25% on energy from canada, not seen if they decided to exempt that ? never mind any kickbacks from this in people changing shopping habbits, deleting further facebook etc
Sub-heading to that is that you shouldn't close the commissary service if you might need the US Army to soon do some stuff it really doesn't want to do.
My last shred of hope is that things get so hectic that they feel they have to force him out. I'm realistic enough about American institutions and politicians to know that we'll probably be stuck with 4 years of this though.
Yes, agreed. But I don't think Vance is as stupid or reckless, which is something. Probably still an authoritarian, but I think US democracy survives a President Vance.
"force him out" 🤣🤣🤣 He'll shoot protestors in the streets, and you lads will be lucky not to be locked up next few years. Have you missed Trump bypassing Congress / Senate? 😬😬
Still, in the US there is no mechanism for early elections, so if Vance crashes and burns and gets removed, the new President will be someone hand-picked by Vance and so on and so forth until the end of the four years.
No, quite, it's grim any way you slice it. What's keeping me going is that a bit of snakes always entangles itself. They're more organised this time around but the psychology is still the same
I can’t judge whether he’d be better or worse in practice but IMO Vance is more sincere than Trump, in a bad way. Trump will destroy democracy etc to get the petty things he wants, Vance actively does not believe in liberal democracy. Fortunately he has zero charisma
I think Vance is easily led, tbh. I also think Trump has things that will cause alarm bells to go off in his head, the stock market going down being one of them, whereas I increasingly get the sense that Vance is happy just as long as he feels he's owning the libs.
The American right is a personality cult to Trump now. I frankly think that whoever replaces him, in whichever circumstances, will have to try to ride the same wave, and invoke him. They'll be boxed in.
The question is - would someone who is as authoritarian as Trump, as devoid of morals and decency as Trump - but less stupid and less reckless than Trump do less harm or more?
I know of no evidence that Vance is an actual criminal, is under the thumb of a foreign power, has stolen from charities or stiffed contractors and put them out of business, or is willing give away classified info and or cause the deaths of US agents.
The US economy looks set to go through a rough time, as we knew that it would under Trump. But sure, he was endorsed by Liz Truss, that bodes well! I wonder if the people who swallowed his price of groceries schtick might soon be regretting this. Or even regret it now!
I just home the rest of the world doesn’t cave in and give into him otherwise he’s constantly going to hold a gun to everyone’s head. Unfortunately, I think they probably will cave in.

Yeah, low bar. At this point I'll take it.
Trump is a distraction.
There will be some backsliding tomorrow or Sunday.
