It makes complete sense as it's a border constituency. The DUP went hard on Brexit because they are self sabotaging idiots. That skewed the vote here a lot.
My issue with this is bracketing fish and chip shops with restaurants. I live in West Yorkshire where there is quite a high density of sit down fish and chip places, but massively outnumbered by Indian restaurants.
What the data might show is that economically run down areas with older populations don’t have many restaurants at all. But most will still have fish and chip takeaways.
This isn't remotely accurate for my Brexit-voting area. There are plenty of fish and chip shops, but they're massively outnumbered by pubs serving food, and by fast food places if that includes small independents as well as big chains.
