Those who follow my annual music lists know i am a sucker for Field Music @fieldmusicmusic.bsky.social in general, but this is extra special. A song suite on organized Labour, as it grew and relates to The Mines, that is also a tribute to the tradition of village and colliery bands.

More serious than Alan Price's "Jarrow Song" (1974) but less ponderous than Johann Johannsson's score for "The Miners' Hymns" (2011), wondrous as that is.
The concluding Field Music track, "Ranter's Prayer," seems just right for Easter.
