An old lawyer in love with new music, among other things. Snappy patter & wordplay a subspecialty. Not one of the George Wallaces you may've heard of. Was @foolintheforest en X. Occasional longer outbursts via georgewallace.substack.com. Mostly harmless.

Does the Government of the Great & Glorious United States of America simply have no onboarding process for newbs like Hegseth, et al., to introduce them to secure practices, common sense precautions, basics of the Constitution, having the sense God gave a goose, grooming tips, good manners, & such?

Bought this this evening as an hommage to David Thomas of Pere Ubu, who had no [known] connection to it, but would surely approve of its Spo-Dee-O-Dee qualities and sophisto rickety-racket. There is a philosophy of life in this groove. Merci et merdre to @billorcutt.bsky.social

What's the latest, most thorough study of where People in this country are actually Getting Their News? If you listen to Fox, even in passing, you would never imagine that Trump was on the downside on immigration for instance, as it seems he is, because they speak with that Awful Fox Certainty.

Vladimir, stop.

But first, Are you Notable? Or have you ever been Notable? Well I..., nah, not me neither.

Is "Corrupting the Youth" a high crime or misdemeanor? It was a sufficient charge to take out Socrates, so perhaps it has other practical applications.

News notification came in on the phone, beginning with the phrase "Two Kenyans won the Boston Marathon," and I was genuinely relieved when the sentence did not continue with, "their visas were immediately revoked and the two were dispatched to Devil's Island in the interests of National Security."

Those who follow my annual music lists know i am a sucker for Field Music @fieldmusicmusic.bsky.social in general, but this is extra special. A song suite on organized Labour, as it grew and relates to The Mines, that is also a tribute to the tradition of village and colliery bands.

No topical politics to this, at all: The Hemphill Stringtet album is a wonder cabinet of chamber jazz. Julius Hemphill's Mingus revisions, written originally for Kronos, include two CM pieces from and for Cassavetes' 1957 "Shadows." This one's extra extra for being hip deep in Ravel and Debussy.

"You Will Follow the Law or We Will Show You the Door" A fully American, non-partisan slogan, applicable to any President, no?
