An old lawyer in love with new music, among other things. Snappy patter & wordplay a subspecialty. Not one of the George Wallaces you may've heard of. Was @foolintheforest en X. Occasional longer outbursts via georgewallace.substack.com. Mostly harmless.

"As I made my way toward the village, . . . I saw, tangled in a glimmer of sunlit moisture that was poured over it like a yellow vintage, a small object like a hand, some twenty feet ahead of me, and touched by the repetitious foam." 'The Night Ocean' R.H. Barlow with H.P. Lovecraft (1936)

Nearly all the folks I follow in NYC seem well pleased by tonight's results. As I respect and admire the folks I follow in NYC, I am duly chuffed for them. May their choice strengthen them, and may they not be disappointed in how this all sorts out in the wash. #TheMarkofZohran

Thank you for your attention to this matter! DONALD J. QUIXOTE, THE LORD OF LA MANCHA

If we're to be led to war by clowns, let them at least be clowns of quality. Hi de hi de hi de hi de hi de hi de ho. youtu.be/5mEsXz-Bpog?...

If ICE agents want visas to enter Dodgers Nation, they will need to make their phones and full personal social media histories available for prolonged and thorough vetting.

You got to ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive E-lim-i-nate the negative And latch on to the affirmative Don't mess with mister in between. You got to spread joy up to the maximum Bring gloom down to the minimum And have faith, or pandemonium Liable to walk upon the scene.

AI is like Stuxnet, with the important difference that, instead of trying to inflict it only upon Iran and wincing as it broke free, the techniks are dragging us all into worldwide Stuxnet/AI Pox Parties and ladling AI lovingly and inescapably into every nook and cranny of modern life.

New iterations of the too-tall, unpermitted "Flag Poles" at Mar-A-Lago and out west at Trump National in Rancho Palos Verdes, no doubt. Probably erected by the same folks as are in charge of desecrating the Rose Garden. More patriotic pomp from the Pompous Patoot in Chief.

He would like you to believe otherwise, and he wishes that he could persuade himself otherwise, but Donald J. Trump, like Howard the Duck, is trapped in a world he never made and is very put out about it.

Sure sign that I am an aging member of My Generation: Trump bails on all the awkwardness of the G7 to fly back to D.C. so he can embrace the comforts of managing a potential global conflagration, and I am reminded of Doonesbury, 1972, and B.D.'s decision to go to 'Nam to avoid a term paper.

Paraphrase of the one bit of Fox parade coverage that I saw: FOX Commentator 1: This could be as big a moment for the Army's reputation as 'Top Gun' was for the Air Force! FOX Commentator 2: 'Top Gun' was about the Navy....

Thank you Mr. President for your support of California's economy despite your bad self.

aka, "Allegory of California High Speed Rail"

Los Angeles Opera got an exemption from the curfew so folks could attend tonight's performance of "Rigoletto," so there is indeed violent bloody murder and dangerous people all around this town. "Rigoletto" has a higher quotient of tragic irony, and better music, than D&D.

This harks back to Trump in his Manhattan developer mode. The Kennedy Center is the new Wollman Rink.

Has anyone found clear video of who moved when, and did what, in the Senator Padilla takedown? Everything I am finding is either taken from a distant part of the room, or joins the scuffle in medias res, or both.

If anything was going on in downtown Los Angeles tonight, one or more of the local stations would be streaming it. There is nothing at this time. If you are looking for cities on flame this evening, you've come to the wrong burg. Have a consolation prize: youtu.be/z0efJeGsvlc?...

It's funny because it's true. Truly.

Anyone who has watched live, local news coverage from the scene of events at the demonstrations and rallies these past few days knows full well that, as "unrest" in Los Angeles goes, these 72 hours are footnotes compares to *real* unrest. Get out of town and take a bus, POTUS.

Trump also announces that, to honor a great military leader of the American Revolution, West Point will be renamed Fort Benedict Arnold.

One of these days, we can only hope, Stephen Miller will grow so angry that he will stomp his foot and disappear into the earth like Rumpelstiltskin.

Current report is a "couple of hundred people" around one intersection in downtown Los Angeles. If they're planning to burn this whole [enormous] city to ash, they have their work cut out for them. Maybe the Marines can stand down, spend some time at the beach. We'll call them if we need them.

Those of you not in L.A. looking for live coverage of ongoing events might consider local station KTLA 5: ktla.com/on-air/live-... At the moment: a rally in Grand Park downtown, and a group several blocks away where arrested SEIU president David Huerta's initial court appearance is taking place.

Please don't let "Migrant Riots" become a thing.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia is, like, Blofeld or Mengele now? Is that right?
