An old lawyer in love with new music, among other things. Snappy patter & wordplay a subspecialty. Not one of the George Wallaces you may've heard of. Was @foolintheforest en X. Occasional longer outbursts via georgewallace.substack.com. Mostly harmless.

Judges everywhere go to Basic Judging School on their way in, initially, en route to their judgely benches. Warfighters do Basic Training, and then some. But the highest officials in the land don't even get an Employee Handbook thrust upon them?

The moment 'Firebird' ends and 'Siberian Khatru' launches is a hill I would gladly die on.

That would be as tempting a target as John Hurt's "Krapp."

It's a close call between this and Eno's "Driving Me Backwards" as to which will clear a party-filled room the fastest. Is not bug, is feature.

It's a fair cop. Old habits, that should not be repeated.

To paraphrase the late Vivian Stanshall: Conspiracism* is like an egg stain on your teeth. You can lick it, but it still won't go away. *Authoritarianism, fascism, short-fingered vulgarity, what have you.

They should stop fooling around and just grant @hillaryclinton.bsky.social a Letter of Marque to take him out.

So so strange to contemplate how young Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Green Jeans were then, compared to that other thing that I and many like me are now.

Portrayed by "Lumpy" Brannum. His name sprang all unbidden into my head with alarming speed at the sight of his photo.

A deeply humane collection of songs, beautiful in its craft. More serious than Alan Price's "Jarrow Song" (1974) but less ponderous than Johann Johannsson's score for "The Miners' Hymns" (2011), wondrous as that is. The concluding Field Music track, "Ranter's Prayer," seems just right for Easter.

Full Ginsburg! [Bill Ginsburg gave me my first associate's job out of law school, way back in 1981, when he was a little known but darned fine product liability/medical malpractice defense attorney in Encino.]

If they want a classic rock theme, they could at least go with Van Halen and "Jump!"

I have long associated the NBA with less nostalgic genres. I mean, the Classic Rock radio format itself goes back to the '80s, f'revvinsake.

Has anyone broken it to the NBA that Aerosmith's heyday goes back well over half a century? In 1973 "Dream On" was on constant play on every tabletop jukebox in the grills and burger joints of every college town in America, as was the fashion at that time. I know this firsthand, being nigh elderly.

Sad, but true. More recently, the Harris campaign missed a main chance to counter Trump's frankly weird rally playlist by programming "Cult of Personality" on loop at their own gatherings. The original video holds up well in these times.
