There’s a group of three older women at this coffee shop. It looks like they have come to meet up and self educate on climate change. They have their computers out and are reading each other bits of various articles. 🥺🥺

😆Because that's what older women do... and should do. They continue to educate themselves. The big problem is people who think they know all there is to learn. I hope you joined in a healthy discussion?

I'm just a waitress in Florida, I don't have a college education but I enjoy educating myself, I'm telling you the girls and the gays will save us. I often get groups of young girls and they're always polite and tip well, the boys sometimes don't have enough $ to cover the bill 🙄 and are so rude.
This is why I love sitting in coffee shops. You get to realize how many people out there are actually paying attention, talking about important things, and trying. I’m always pleasantly surprised by who & what I overhear.
One of my favourites was probably 2 road trip pit stops in 1 day where I overheard one old man explaining the student encampments to his friends & how the news was getting it wrong because his granddaughter was at one, & another making the case for reading Orwell’s 1984 to understand current events.
Probably from the same generation, that brought their milk in returnable bottles delivered on an electric vehicle, brought their vegetables loose not wrapped in plastic, made their tea with loose leaves and cooked meals fresh from scratch and not out of a foil tray delivered to the door.
Some of you have interpreted this as being a bad thing and ????? This is good!! People hanging out with their friends and learning about climate change is GOOD. Touch grass! 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
I honestly think a lot of “older” people care far more than many realise. In my family at least it’s the younger ones that need a little bit more persuasion ( I guess marketing and lifestyle expectation influences their behaviour more at the moment)
I'm fairly old and need no persuasion. We knew about acid rain killing trees and fridge CFCs/aerosoly making a hole in the ozone layer in the 1980s. Concerted international action was taken: unleaded petrol and bans on CFCs. We learned of climate change in the 90s but there was no such action.
"Have you ladies heard about Bjørn Lomborg, Roy Spencer, Fred Singer, John Clauser, William Happer or Richard Lindzen?" I ask... just before uncontrollably vomiting. Sources matter. 🙂
Are you showing that face because they’re using three computers? I think they should be applauded for their self-education. Every bit of new knowledge will influence their future selves.
You're probably fine, honestly, I am reading the tone here partly based on following Dr. Montano for several years (and knowing she can correct me if I am off-base!). Text-based communication is hard!
