Okay serious question because I’m sincerely wondering: why would I import tweets? Like why would I not just - say those things AGAIN, if they were useful things people were interested in? Is there some value to this that I’m not seeing?

I would say save them, for historical reasons. But if you do not see value in reposting them here, then do not. Sometimes, being able to start anew is the best choice, yes?
Some people want that long-tail history of their work in a niche or community, and it can be especially valuable for businesses who use social media for both marketing and updates. Kinda just an easy way to establish some credibility (but I don’t think that’s an issue for you here! lol)
The only reason I would import tweets is because I live-tweeted my alma mater's state championship games in 2009 and 2010, the former of which resulted in a state crown and a perfect season.
I’m not going to. I like the idea of a clean break. Also, I have this sort of “tradition”, you don’t bring a broom from the old house into the new home. Bad juju
I wrote a lot of tidbits over the years I was there, pieces to a puzzle of a book I was/am writing. Some I have in Word docs, some I do not. When I was suspended all that work, the connections it (and those who wrote their own) created, the conversations and ideas...was taken away. I want it back.
We’re both writers and so we understand the value of archiving of one’s serious work, of course.
But I don’t know, I just find the idea that one would sit and pore over one’s old glory-days tweets kinda - sad? It’s not even like looking at old photos or something, of a thing that actually HAPPENED
Musk Nuked my access to Twitter in a weird way. It was disruptive as I had used that archive as a searchable bookmark for links to interesting stories and studies over many years.
I don't want my archive posted to BSKY, but I can see why someone may want to port things over.
I recommend downloading your tweet history for your records. But agree with just posting old tweets new on the blue skies....building useful content piece by piece. Glad you are here.
Contrarian opinion. Leave it all behind. We change, the world changes, why cling? I’ve been following you for years because I value your posts now, about things happening now. Just sayin’. Good luck.
I guess I can see that for like a researcher or something but I don’t flatter myself that people are actually searching my old social media feeds for anything lol
lol lol lol Ryker Blackstar! That was on the blog, though, and I haven’t looked at that blog in YEARS. I should go over there and see if there’s anything worse salvaging
Well I have sometimes searched for old 'control tower' columns but that's a very different thing I suppose. I probably have some tweets I wouldn't mind saving...but I have so MANY MORE that aren't worth the bother. It's the sorting, not the saving that's too much.
Yeah that’s me. I grabbed me my archive but iirc my tweets from like 2007-2009 were just me basically taking to myself. Im pretty sure posterity is better off without them. 😂

Twitter claimed my account was hacked, and disassociated it from my email, leaving it in limbo, still public, but removed from the search index.
Two separate engineers at the company have confirmed they are not allowed to bring my account back.
Because OF COURSE IT WAS.
