carbon footprint was a marketing/greenwashing campaign by BP to make the consumers liable for the climate crisis and not the companys. To realy make a difference vote for political partys that aim towards making companys liable for their carbon emissions. And buy less co2 emissive Products.
(just clarifying: never about reducing carbon footprint in the sense of the main actor responsible global emissions being the consumers and individuals instead of corporations and industry)

It’s kind of insidious how much the children’s media of the 90’s was about convincing a generation of kids that saving the environment was a personal responsibility and not the intentional failing of the very corporations funding said media.
And even that is optimistic. We have already exceeded five of the nine planetary limits and the insect die off could reach critical levels by mid century. Especially of pollinators. Our entire planetary ecosystem collapses if we lose bugs.
I agree with you. It's extremely optimistic. I've been thinking for years that we have gone beyond the tipping point and it's all just getting faster and faster from her on out. I don't think we can fix it, we can only learn to live/cope with it.
I'm 60+ and I've never owned or driven a gas powered vehicle, never purchased 1 litre of gasoline even. (But I'm NOT living an off-the-grid lifestyle) Anyway, no one cares and no one has ever cared about that. But it has created challenges to employment and mobility, etc.
