League is one of those games I really want to like (I love RPGs), but I can just never get fully into it. It feels both too complicated and too simple at the same time.
Shame that league of legends lore is actually so fucking good but it’s being handled by some dipshits at riot 😭😭. God bless arcane for what’s it’s doing
-Cop who punches things
-Cop with long gun
-Wannabe Harley Quinn
-Strong jaw man with fancy hammer
And turned these characters and others into THIS magnificent show is incredible. And I'm someone who likes the LoL lore even if the writing can be rough
Tbh the neat thing about Arcane is that it’s successful based on one of the *less* interesting corners of the lore. (I say this not liking the show myself but I respect that many do.)
not a lol player but I saw a clip of the devs basically saying that the show is fully canon and any conflicts moving forward are to be taken as the new lore
Yeah League lore is utter chaos. The League itself got retconned out of existence ages ago. Teemo used to be a celebrity with book deals. It's always fluxuating
Tbf, it's not the first time they retcon the entire lore (remember the summoners, as in summoner's spells?) and it's not like it was super set in stone before, it was full of incongruences.
I mean, basically any champion rework comes with a major retcon. The magic-eating stone guardian of Demacia designed to kill mages on sight who became best friends with Lux used to be "gargoyle, end of lore".
they redo the lore alot. this wasn't alot of retconning all things considered. it's mostly in what amounts to wiki articles and stuff and the characters who got changed were overdue for a decent lore treatment.
they're shifting to proper story treatments.
I mean, LoL lore died over 5 years ago in terms of actual lore within the game. They lore drop with new characters, but they don't have a platform to build lore upon. This is why Arcane (and hopefully more) will help tell the actual story for characters (rather than an in-game paragraph or two)
I'm a rare person that actually enjoys League and just plays casually. It's not that bad if you don't care for ranking up. I played on bots for years to learn my champs and get the hang of it and played against real people.
Ive really got to sit down and give it a try. The whole reason I've avoided is Because it's based on LoL. Something I played once and had some of the worst hatred spewed in my direction I've ever read/heard.
I honestly have not watched this series specifically because I'm worried it'll make me want to try League of Legends. I've never seen anyone come out of that game happy
There are two games in that IP that are great and don’t have the toxicity that surrounds LoL. TFT and Legends of Runeterra are both great, IMO. I’ve honestly not tried Wild Rift, but it’s supposed to be a more casual LoL experience
100%. i put in some effort learning the moba because some of my close friends are daily players, and the world building is incredible. i prefer card games so i'd recommend runeterra if you love the lore. but an mmo would be incredible
IMO Arcane could be taking place in any other established or new creative universe and it will still be good: that’s how well it is written. The LoL universe is just a meaningless background to me
I used to watch the promos for League of Legends thinking, "I don't wanna play this game but I'd love a series with all of these characters," and at least they're finally getting there.
My wife watched it and was like "what game is it based on I might check it out" and I had to break it to her what kind of game it was and she was so disappointed.
Season 1 was really good. Thoroughly dense and can be hard to follow, but really good. Another really good one is Castlevania. I still have to check out Nocturne.
Never played the game. But my daughter got me to watch the series and I’m hooked. Such gorgeous art design and I personally ❤️ the storyline. The character dev has been really intriguing.
Arcane season 1 was great, I'm not a nay-sayer but so far season 2 feels really forced overall. There are of course parts that are better than other parts in the new season but overall it has felt kind of bad...
Regardless I remain excited to watch the remainder.
It also shows that there are high quality stories to be told in that universe, but the game doesn't even let people realize it, because like all other PVP only games, you can't tell a real story out of PVP activity only. All games need a story mode, even if it is still somehow PVP only.
I don't play League. So, I sort of unfairly dismissed the show because I had no interest in that world. Then, loads of people praised the show for stellar writing, animation, and voice performance. I need to give it a fair chance.

Me: Can they be talking a new season?
Other me: I mean you could go check.
Me: *Runs to check*
-Cop who punches things

-Muppet with Turrets
-Time Boy, and
-Russian Robot!
especially on this season 2 that seem to rewrite viktor origin story A LOT
this person is viktor ingame
no voidlike skin
no magic
just a guy that augmented himself with onlu the power of technology
its not surprising considering the game has been out for like 15 years now and the official lore tab was removed around 10 years ago
they're shifting to proper story treatments.

The game: this is akin to torture.
