I'm surprised you can still find a hotel that has a minibar.
The $180 a night Hilton chain hotel I stayed in last month had two K-Cups and an AC unit that kept me up - and cold despite setting the room temperature to 74 - through the night.
somehow the bill is ALWAYS separate and it's SOMETHING on there even if you don't remember having 3 mini liquor shot bottles and a coke.. i'm so serious i'd go to court with that amsterdam hotel i stayed at in 2018 that falsely accused me of consuming from the minibar
We just stayed at a hotel in Porto and b/c of my other half's status with the hotel they told us we could have all of the minibar every night and they would refill it for free.
I once actually looked through the price list for the in-hotel laundry service, and HO-LY-SHIT that was extortionate. I will never be in a position where I can afford to buy underwear that cost as much as that hotel charged to get a single pair of boxers cleaned.
Rightfully so. One time I went to a hotel, and I wanted a little snack. There was a small 8 fl oz tin of gummy bears sitting on the mini bar. As I was about to open the can, I noticed a $25 price tag on the side of the can. TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS! I swore never to eat from a mini bar from that time on.
The Grace Hotel in Sydney is lovely for many reasons, including the fact that the minibar fridge is restocked daily with juice, sparkling water, and sodas, all of which are complementary. Makes you feel like a welcome guest, not a mark to be shaken down.
