I'm sick of Trump dominating every news cycle but realize it's important to know what he's up to. I think the best way to do that is to refer to the current administration, the executive, the republican admimistration, etc and not mention trump at all.

There has been a strong temptation for a while to "ignore the noise" and focus on the seemingly real threats. I think that's partly the way but partly not. Even the most outlandish ideas, like annexing Canada, need to be rebuked, because left unchallenged they are made to seem legitimate ideas.

At the same time, I think the way forward is figuring out how much bandwidth to dedicate to each basket of insanity: condemn everything anti-democratic, outlandish or not, but zero in on the most dangerous things that have a non-negligible chance of manifesting.

First, rather than ignoring the news reporters, we need to vocally support the free press. We need to support the press that reports the "news" and does not try and make the news, unless it is legitimate investigative reporting. We ignore the press that cannot differentiate between opinion and fact.

Spend the next four years building a new political movement (like Principles First) and create a new political party to encapsulate its principles. There must be a destination for Trump voters wanting an offramp from MAGA. The Democratic's brand is too damaged, and we cannot rely on them to save us.

As you and Tim alluded to yesterday, Trump knows exactly what he's doing getting the press and much of the discourse switched from real issues, dangers and campaign promises to Greenland and Canada.
