It’s January 6th. I’d like to take a second to congratulate all of us who said that unless there were massive immediate consequences for what happened, we would end up precisely here in four years, facing this exact future. Pretty cool.

I hate this so much. I hate that there are people fighting for their lives, including myself, who have never done anything wrong and there are people like him and his followers who were actively trying to commit murder who face no consequences at all. And never will.
The degree to which our elected officials took it upon themselves to hold their contemporaries accountable is commensurate with how little they achieved…one suspects it wasn’t a huge priority or that we need to change a system that is unable to swiftly and confidently prosecute traitors
I cannot believe how useless the democratic party is. Honestly, the republican party establishment put up more of a fight against him in 2016 than the dems ever did.
Dems going from "We should move on from this and unite the country" to "We can't believe the GOP is trying to rewrite history and pretend J6 wasn't bad!!!"... WTF did you think was gonna happen, assholes??? This is entirely on you.
The FBI should have immediately have arrested - on 6 or 7 Jan 2021 - Donald Trump on suspicion of seditious conspiracy and dared the Supreme Court to point to the article in the Constitution that says they couldn't.
They would have been fully within their rights to have him spend the 21st "helping them with their inquiries." The FBI interviews might have gone on quite a while.
I presume if Trump manages to arrest Garland - or even Biden despite that Supreme Court immunity ruling - they might finally realise the failure of the entire criminal justice system in dealing with Trump & the MAGA coup attempt when they had the chance?
Not voting on impeachment until about a week after was the beginning of the end. That should have been passed the night of the 6th or at least on the 7th. But nope and here we are.
This is where we may part ways. As soon as Biden didn't prosecute 1/6 properly, covered up covid, and turned Ukraine from a great negotiating opportunity into a disastrous war, I realized that Dems were so awful it was just a matter of "pick your poison".
Business/Media/Political elites can rest easy that Trump is a lame duck. He will totally accept his influence is waning and people are moving on. After all, Trump is a good man who cares about things other than himself. There is no chance he would reject the inevitable and consolidate power.
I have trouble being paranoid because my wife is a lawyer, my brother is the head of a company, my brother-in-law was the head of pharmacy for a major grocery store, and I know nearly every CEO of most lending institutions.
This is obviously satire but it wouldn’t matter even if it were true. Because the precedent has been set and will apply to all candidates for political office in future. That subverting democracy doesn’t matter. Ditto past proven record of criminality. Sexual harassment, even rape. Open corruption…
Lot of people to blame but I think Mitch McConnell in particular had the opportunity to put Trump out of our misery as he had already gotten everything he needed from Trump (the courts)

There’s no reason to be paranoid
