Society hasn't done nearly enough to reign in the sociopaths who value nothing but power and money. As a whole our monkey brains just can't cope with the onslaught of "modernity" and change. Carl Sagan predicted it all in his "Demon Haunted World" book.

Exactly! I suspected and prepared myself that it might be dystopian but I thought there would be greater value of science and higher level of education and intelligence and we would have a woman president by now. Also where are those flying cars!
There are countless books, songs, movies, poems, literally any type of story telling device, warning people about this shit and yet the masses never learn.
