My husband texted me just “LEONARD PELTIER!!!?!??!??” this morning, and my only thought was that he had walked on while in prison. I’m happy he can go home, and sad he’s not truly free, but a small sigh of relief.
Free Leonard Peltier is one of those shibboleths I always associated with boomer liberals like Gore was the real President or wanting to try Oliver North at The Hague. Not a thing that would ever happen. Pleasantly surprised that it did!
I’m a bitter bitter person. I see neoliberals giving us stale crumbs. To free someone towards the end of their life means their entire life was stolen from them. Thank God the sentence will be commuted but it’s too late for this to be actually meaningful
I actually imagine that he shares a piece of this perspective as well. I appreciate if someone apologizes or tries to make reparations but some things can never be repaired and a lost lifetime of freedom can never be repaired
on one hand; true!
on the other; it shows a deep rot in the "liberal" institution of the "democratic" party in that this act, an obvious good, was incapable of being performed when both the act of doing could be pointed to &! so leonard would have more time to do work & b more effective if he chose
