Yup. Those accounts really are the worst. There are so many people in genuine need, but it's hard to work out which ones are genuine 😣

I've fallen down a bit of a rabbit hole and here's some things I'm questioning:
- Targets of 20-50k even if the ask is for clothes/tents
- Different names against organiser/beneficiary
- Gofundme set up by someone with a western sounding name
- Mismatch of photos/names on account/gofundme

- Only close up photos of individual who owns the bluesky account; stock images of ruins, or photos of other unnamed individuals (often kids) alone
- Stories that mention rent/bills/cost of living at the same time as talking about loss of house
- Accounts are shut down by bluesky but pop up again

I had a number of them trying to follow me, and all of them were for GoFundMe campaigns where the name of the bsky account, the organiser (who was always based in the US or Europe, for some reason) and the beneficiary didn't match up.

And there are SO MANY of them

I'm also starting to suspect a lot of the accounts boosting them are also fake. Lots of them seemed to make their own jewellery.
