The statistics of people who died because of healthcare delays and denials is like crazy high too like 45 people like every something minutes I can’t remember but it’s ridiculous for a country of our income.
Except it’s not true. Walter could have used his insurance but wanted to go to a fancy clinic that was cash only. He didn’t have to do any of this. He simply wanted to be king.
I went to the doctor for experiencing a weird pain that was going on for a long time. After tests that accumulated to over $300, she just told me to take ibuprofen. Our system sucks
Got to look at it this way. Those 3 bills hopefully ruled out something serious and life threatening. I paid $900.00 out of pocket for a scan of my prostate. I was happy to pay it when the doc said “no cancer.” Did the aspirins help?
And yet it's terribly ironic how you never find actual MEDICAL dramas cover that. All the hospitals are always these utopian, scientifically advanced wonderworlds with free health care for everyone.
Oh yeah, that's the ticket. Turn to making a deadly drug that has already killed no telling how many people just because you have trouble paying your bills.
Indicative of the real welfare queens and terrorists you need to worry about, not someone from another country, they're right in your backyard and holding office.
Your oppression is their profession
The irony is, if someone dies by my hand, I go to jail.
Corporations deny healthcare and someone dies they reap the financial rewards of the stock market cause they didn’t spend the money for care. No jail. And we invest in them. WTF?
Something is very wrong with this country.
You are preaching to the choir here. You have credibility in the system. Write civil letters or make calls to your elected representatives and officials. Letters to the editor of print newspapers too. Volunteer for political candidates. Or run yourself. Most important: VOTE.
And if he hadn't had a rich ex that had ripped him off and felt guilty about it, could he have had those treatments and kept his house, shitty car etc. without doing what he did?
That's not really what it's about. He could've had the money to pay for his bills if he accepted it from Elliot. But he didn't go that route because his true motivations weren't actually to pay the hospital bills. The show even directly tells us this at the finale in the kitchen scene with Skyler.
Only bc they're now worried and scared, wake the fu bc America is pissed and if trump thinks he's coming in to do worse and the followers realize he lied, this country is going to revolt.
We are going to see mass hysteria.
Also, that people are still watching the legacy media, yet reacting hostilely to their sympathy for the rich guy who sucked wealth out of the health care system like a parasite.
"wishing death upon those who are involved in health insurance companies is not just a step too far: it is unfathomable. That sentiment has nothing to do with fixing the system, and everything to do with the most toxic, ugly fringes of politics which are always trying to creep up on the majority."
How can we call ourselves a developed nation when citizens die from treatable conditions due to unaffordability ? Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege to only the affluent.
Ensuring everyone has access to essential medical services, regardless of income or social status. Providing financial assistance and support systems to vulnerable populations. Empowering local communities to develop tailored solutions addressing specific healthcare needs.
Nope, don't remember inadequate insurance for a vested civil servant ever being mentioned as a major issue. It was all about leaving something for the family once he knew he wouldn't live long enough to collect a pension. You're not wrong about the issue, it's just a crap meme.
This is what they wanted to make it more authoritarian. Wake up before we are in a dictatorship dam. Now, they have the excuse to beat on people with the corrupt and authoritarian Brown Shirts police forces they have established.
Actually, Hillary cheated, and with the real numbers we did vote for him. She admitted to it, and then the government decided thats fine and had her run against Trump instead of the one we wanted. I know ppl who voted for Trump cuz Bernie wasn't an option.
It’s simple. When Americans stop hating racial minorities, immigrants, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+, more than they love their children, we will have universal health care. Hate and grievance are very powerful.
Is so sad, if the majority of Americans learn to eat less sugar, more fruit and vegetables, a natural food without additives, health would be easier to achieved
This system sucks. I should not have to spend an entire afternoon and 300 bucks every 3 months just to get meds. Terrified of what would happen if my uninsured ass wound up getting hurt.
I never really thought that preserving insurance companies’ status in the ACA would reduce many of their abuses. They’ve just found other ways to deny care. Medicare advantage plans have become worst offenders, though many people have lower premiums as long as they don’t need care.
From the comments I’ve been seeing online, it’s much more than 90% rooting for the suspect. More like 99.9%.
(And if you think “this is a horribly messed up situation!” then you’re right, but think about just why that is…)
In Germany/Europe, we have had excellent, affordable healthcare since forever! We also never have school shooter drill bc there are zero guns on the streets! USA should try it sometime! It’s great!
Or the outrageous ways Trump and his incoming Admin using Project 2025 plan to take away our desperately needed Services i.e. Medicaid, Medicare, SS & etc.
One way to get around these “outrageous practice” in our health care system is to barter. Legal services in exchange for medical care. I did that for many years. Not all lawyers are rich. Most are three bill schmos like me.
With the idiotic picks for his incoming administration, along with ending birthright citizenship, combined with being an evil human. I'll be surprised/disappointed if we don't hear about another one. Get busy CIA...😉
Pretty much never used the healthcare system in 🇨🇦 except for birth of kids, but glad I didn’t have to choose between bankrupting myself and my family and getting care or just dying. VERY few people could pay out-of-pocket for the care I’m getting now. And nobody should have to make those choices.
If national healthcare was introduced in America it would be vastly more efficient with a single bureaucracy to run and purchase supplies. It would cover every citizen from cradle to grave for about $2500 a year per family or working individual. That is a !/4 of what it costs now and no co-payment!
America spends a fortune on maintaining all the bureaucracies operated by every health insurance company and paying their shareholders dividends. To maintain the profits they have to stiff as many of their clients as possible by denying claims or requesting massive co-payments. Healthcare it is not!
Maybe this man is a smart, nice guy, loving father and husband who has a hard job. We don’t know anything. He wasn’t so puffed up that he hired a body protection man.
He was murdered in cold blood by a criminal.
The conversation will die. People will die along with the conversation. Those making money off the health care system won’t want to lose their lucrative incomes.
When the US electorate stops hating immigrants, racial minorities and LBGTQ+ more than they love their children, we will have single payer universal healthcare coverage.
I’m 100% with you. Somehow someway Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield halted a plan to deny claims for anesthesia services that exceeded specific criteria for certain surgeries…. Hmmm, wonder why?
Just for the record you can’t really “just file bankruptcy” and if you watched the show or understood how it worked you’d see that thay wouldn’t fix anything because his family would be in prob generational debt and doom his family all the same having to pay it all off.
You can just file bankruptcy. My son just did it. So what you are really saying is b/c you sympathize w/ the killer it is ok that he kills others in his quest to pay his hospital bills. That seems to be the consensus.
You have to pay for it down the line and it affects your credit which can be really impactful. And what I’m saying is also that it’s insane that bankruptcy should even be a thing to consider to get treatment, it should be free and should be a for profit business to pay for medicine
that doesn't change the fact that everyone apparently condones killing others in the meantime instead of fighting a bad system like voting not for trump
If you watched breaking bad you’d know that he was late stage and a good chance it wouldn’t work and he said that he would rather die than likely not have it work and pass on the debt to his family. Filing bankruptcy does the same you don’t just magically not ever pay for those bills
I don’t have a lot of sympathy for someone that on the conservative side killed about 14400 people each year with denied claims (0.1% of denied claims last year), while they made billions. That’s more than 9/11, Pearl Harbor, and the trail of tears combined each year. That’s fucked up
It's shocking how a TV series plot can mirror real struggles in healthcare. Stories like this reflect deep issues that need attention. It's important we keep discussing and pushing for changes that ensure people get the care they need. What do you think could help?
just received my $1200 deductible for cataract on one eye. So happy my employer and I spend 10s of thousands on "the best healthcare system in the world"
1200 is nothing for eye sight. The surgery was probably a heck of a lot more. I paid 900 out of pocket for a scan of my prostate. Good money spent to rule out cancer. Got to look at it as if the glass is half full.
I think what you're missing is that between my payroll deductions and the amount my employer paid to the INSURANCE COMPANY the one whose glass is completely full and overflowing is CIGNA (or whoever your insurance rapist is)
The bill that passed and the bill that existed are two different things. The bill that passed is neutered. Who did it? Republicans.
Also, what happened to repeal and replace? The only thing that they have done is neuter it more than it had been before.
But we are getting concepts on a plan instead
Well, I'm old enough to remember the Affordable Care Act and it was passed with no republican support. They could have passed single-payer. The only people the dems negotiated with were themselves.
Look at all the amendments and who negotiated them.
I love that website. So much.
What happened after it passed? We are ignoring that as well.
Guy. Don't come after the guy that actually does their research.
Blame Democrats all you want. The proof is there.
tbh it wasn't until the last 10 yrs or so I realized how bad our privatized health system is. I've always used the VA, but decided to opt for actual insurance at one of my jobs. Paperwork & deductible nightmare. Happy to be back in the VA system. Hopefully TFG won't kick me out.
months of prep & not once was i told my spinal access surgeon working with the neurosurgeon was out of BCBS network. 15 weeks later i'm getting a surprise bill. Post Corporate greed layoff, I'm not quite sure how i'll pay for it. Might have to rob a bank or cook some meth, who knows could be fun.
America can unite on this issue: Insurance companies kill and bankrupt people no matter who said people vote for. Time for change, get profit out of health care
Everyone forgets about the Saw movies.
Man got denied cancer coverage and tried to kill himself. When he walked out of the car crash he felt alive again. All his puzzles started out as a way to get people to feel the same type of high he did when he walked out of the car crash.
While I agree with the sentiment of the post, this is not why he did it...he did it because he was good at it and he enjoyed it...that's the whole point of the series.
"Juror #25054, have you ever been denied a health insurance claim, delayed to prior Auth, or had a friend or family member experience such?" "Yes." "Dismissed!"
Yeah...
I mean it goes without saying that killing someone is never justified. But one can hope that the investigation of this one death may finally spark an investigation of the thousands of preventable deaths the US helath care system - or rather its absence - have brought.

Access to healthcare was never the issue. Walt was explicitly offered the best possible treatment, and he refused because of his pride.
If Walt just said yes, he would be cured, happy with his family, and there wouldn't be a show.

also rip. great show.
A: A good start.
Vive la révolution!
(And if you think “this is a horribly messed up situation!” then you’re right, but think about just why that is…)
If poor countries can get this figured out, we can too.
Why is healthcare so expensive? After Obamacare.
He gets multiple opportunities to pay for it legally and he rejects them, insisting on the meth empire to fuel his narcissistic idea of his legacy.
Does that mean I have reached block list nirvana?
He was murdered in cold blood by a criminal.
The fight for universal healthcare in the US has to come at some point.
The incoming fascist will slow that down of course.
Every other country in the developed world has some form of it.

Poor people dying at home or on the streets or in their car homes never brought any attention to the greed problem of for-profit health insurance.
Also, what happened to repeal and replace? The only thing that they have done is neuter it more than it had been before.
