The decision of whether to run for re-election has not been easy. I truly love the job of being a United States Senator.

But in my heart, I know it’s time to pass the torch.

So, I am announcing today that I will not be seeking re-election at the end of my term.

I retired. I moved out of the way so a new younger person could get in and move on. I was happy I was able to live long enough to retire and thankful I have time to read a book, or play with my pets. It’s not a penalty, and lots of people never live long enough to retire. Time to pack it up.
