@humblebundle.com Yeah, can you guys tell me where to go for refunds? If you're going to spit in our eyes by marketing GenAI content, I'd rather just save some more money and pay full price elsewhere.

Do they not realize like... 100% of their business depends on the good will of the people and developers towards them? Creating another bundle website is NOT SUPER DIFFICULT.
Nopes, they do not. Remember when they forced people to give high minimum% to Humble in bundles pretending it was the average people gave to them anyways? They do not care, the original mission of Humble was changed long ago to profit, it's been all corpo for while, else is just smoke and mirrors
Generative AI isn't scary - it's downright terrifying in the way it exploits everything around it, chews any sentient thought it gets its tendrils on and co-opts it so that some aphantasic ghoul in a turtle neck can try to offset their abomination's eye-watering losses.
@humblebundle.com as a game developer, takes out anything that has to do with #generativeAI, by which I mean models that steal from artists and creators. Give us #compensation and #representation!
This bundle has been pulled after the negative response voiced by the Humble community. We strive to offer products that serve and assist our supporters.
Wow, 😮 props for fixing this self-inflected wound; please be more mindful in the future, especially when thousands of developers have lost their jobs in the last 2 and 1/2 years. Sincerely, thank you. I can and will resubscribe, knowing y'all did the right thing.

They say they're girls, they say they code, they don't say they have any moral standards. If they want to #girlboss while coding children-targeting smart weapons who are we to judge?
Yeah! I saw in their app/program bundle a month or so ago a bundle all dedicated to AI. I only had subscription several years ago for a year when the thing was new and you got everything for a same price.
We have pulled this bundle due to the negative reaction voiced by several members of the community. At Humble we strive to offer products that serve and assist our supporters.
GenAI is built on stealing. There are infamous lawsuits going on that will hopefully shutter big businesses that are stealing art of all kinds to throw into their soulless blender to spit out workerless slop. Please let the decision makers know we don't want that in any way shape or form. Thank you!
Genuinely, how the actual fuck are you surprised by this? Who thought this was ok? Who suggested this? I hope you fired them, because this wasn't even remotely ok. Independent artists have long supported your product, offering their games, stories, ttrpgs & so much for your brand, & you do this!?
Who on earth thought this was a good idea? You've flamethrowered your reputation and credibility in one fell swoop. I think it'll take a lot of work to come back from this, if you can at all.
CEOs are so thrilled about not having to pay people anymore because of AI that they literally cannot fathom anyone not also being unreasonable excited by it
As soon as they started putting limits on what percentage of your bundle purchase you could select to go to charity and/or the devs vs them, and then just removed the sliders completely after backlash, I unsubscribed and haven't touched them since. Every year that decision becomes better and better
Yeah, that felt really sketchy to me. Before that I had a lot of respect for them, but now it doesn't feel like they care as much about charities getting money
They still have the sliders, you just have to select the “Custom Amount” (instead of the fixed “Default Donation” or “Extra to Charity”) under the “Adjust Donation” drop down to access them.
I didn’t know about any of this controversy until today, but yesterday I bought the sonic comic bundle and the sliders were there (though the amount to humble was required to be >= 30)
They must have brought them back at some point then but yeah, it used to not require any minimum to Humble, though I would still throw them a little anyway just as thanks for hosting the bundles. Mandatory 30% is crazyyy
There are so many weird stuff on Humble Bundle sometimes. Like one time you can get over 100 issues of the IDW TMNT series for like 15 euro which is a bargin. Then you can also get a bundle of weird how to make billions of dollars using audible scam novels.
It was crazy to learn that the original Humble Bundle was run by Wolfire Games and immediately was handed off to a secondary company made just for Humble Bundle.
The fucking insulting tone here. They act like they're talking down to a child. Look it doesn't matter if AI is fun. It doesn't matter if it gives you a million dollars, kills your enemies, and places a fucking golden crown on your head. It's still built on PLAGIARISM!
i think you may be overestimating how much the average person cares about plagiarism. i would definitely endorse plagiarism if it meant i got one million dollars
I hate to say it but sadly those are basically intro courses for professionals in tech and they're semi-required cause most every company is trying to cram AI into everything
They're at least seeming to keep it to that, but it's something that we can't escape at all even in certification courses
I have a similar problem in that I write a lot of software patent applications, and AI is cropping up everywhere, if not in my own clients' inventions, than in the stuff that gets cited against them. I need to understand how this stuff works, regardless of whether I think it should exist.
As someone hoping to get into game dev education next year, I need to agree this, sadly. When I was looking at university programs last year, most gave dev ones I saw included learning AI.
Like legitimately, I'm currently working through a cybersecurity certification prep course and I literally went through and picked the one that covered AI and integration the least and used as little as possible
Yeah, it's still fucking everywhere and in none of them is it optional
I do try my best to poison every single dataset they are allowing me a chance to tho since I'm petty about there not being any way to avoid it if I want my certification prep that I can actually afford given I can't afford college courses and never will! And those too would be teeming with it
The only other job paths I'd last more than a couple months before losing my mind, I would not be safe pursuing work or education due to me merely being a queer trans person. Physically and mentally. It's either that, SW which is also not nice w/ mental rn, or this
I could also just accept the fact that there is no winning at getting a job to make enough money to be comfortable in a slightly above meh apartment for me and my fiancee, motorcycle for transport, enough to cover hobbies and have plenty left to support friends, cause I'm one of "those filthy trans"
Comments
how creative and good can this really be if you don't have enough confidence in your own work to actually, you know, WORK on it?
we can't have anything on this crap of an earth

Also fuck Humble Bundle.
Creeps tried to literally bribe me into keeping my subscription a few years back.
Y'all should know better by now 😒🙄😮💨

Glad you pulled it.
smh
Also it's now exceedingly rare you can pick the charity on bundles.
lmao the bundle is just books about chatgpt and ai lol
They're at least seeming to keep it to that, but it's something that we can't escape at all even in certification courses
Still not a fan of it, but still.

A lot of people are making these knee jerk book burn the witchcraft hot takes.
These books can teach ethics and application beyond "it steals art" and people can't get past Pavlov social media bell ringing.
If it takes TWENTY LESSONS you might as well sit down and learn how to do the shit yourself, fucking hell...
