Love this book as a source mate thank you! bit left field but I love using a WW1 source- The Pantheon de la Guerre.

Basically a painting to celebrate the contributing countries to Allied victory, but the imperial powers take more space compared to colonies etc.

I teach high school AP Euro and AP World History to ages 14-18. I don't show many documentaries but episode 2 of BBC4's History of Racism is chilling. It covers the Black War, scientific racism and eugenics, Indian famines, the Herero genocide, etm.

one simple one that I like to use in survey courses is the “Revendications du Peuple annamite” which Hồ Chí Minh delivered to the U.S. delegation at the Paris Peace conference—I give them the image of the original document from NARA and my own translation

Political cartoons, Callwell’s Small Wars book, pictures of atrocities, pictures of production (I briefly show how specific resources were extracted), pictures of factory floors in Europe and the US that used the same resources (like Michelin), and pro/anti-imperialist quotes (Rhodes, Butler, etc.).

Callwell is definitely a source for imperial/expeditionary wars. A guide for wars where the state is not at risk, just it’s prestige.

Have you considered using “The Defence of Duffer’s Drift”?

I love Defense of Duffer’s Drift, but I think it tells you more about tactics and leadership than imperialism. Callwell is great because he’s blunt, like “Burn the village down and take their livestock, here’s why, by the way the Americans perfected this.”
