Americans, unlike most of Asia & Europe, didn‘t have to live through autocracy in their last 100 years. The average joe, while implicitly preferring a free state & society, doesn‘t *consciously* realise or think about their fundamental (1/2)
This is so pathetic
One thing I have known for a while but this election affirmed it, is that majority of Americans are illiterates and dumb
So without those memories on a societal level, the "strong man" sales pitch seems to catch on (2/3)
But with Musk‘s X takeover, it seems more urgent than ever to transform how the wider american audience receives their information diet.
Bluesky succeeding to the detriment of X would be a good first step.
Elon has signalled his intent to make X the "everything app", you can see this with process with some of the features added, for example calling, communities and more replacing stand-alone apps.
