Someone on this website posted about Simmons’ Hyperion recently
I saw the post, thought “there’s a classic I’ve never gotten around to”, and got lost in the quartet for several days
Now I don’t know who to thank for being the catalyst for reading this series

The Player of Games is the wildly recommended first one to read.
The tale of the professor returning to Hyperion with his daughter ageing backwards, pulled a whole range of emotions out of me, in a way that no book has ever done, before or since.
Related, recently saw a rumor that it might be made into a mini series.
I have finished all four
Which was your favorite? When I was reading the series I was ready to give up somewhere between 2nd and 3rd because they did not leave up to the original.. but the 4th was by far the best.
Anyway! What's your fav char? :)
I’m not so much character driven as idea driven—the big appeal for me is the overarching philosophy that finite life makes it more poignant, that profound empathy is crucial, and that diversity and cooperation despite differences is key
And Het Mastin I would read without the long i - So instead of Masteeeen it would be Mastin (you know the Serbian phonetics ofc where every letter is read 'as is')
