Along with the World War II generation, we're losing so many of the men and women who led the Civil Rights movement. Fundamentally, I think that loss of living memory is a big part of why reactionary politics have resurfaced.

Great point. These are folks who showed how activism and solidarity works in the streets, at lunch counters, and in other physical spaces. Getting outside our homes, beyond email and social media, is one of the key challenges today.
I have to wonder if he were still with us and serving in the House if this last week would have gone much differently. To fail to live up to one's constitutional oath is a source of grave dishonor, but it's harder to do so when it involves the shame of disrespecting a living legend.
And that we allowed an entire generation of queer visionary thinkers die in the Epidemic. They were Trump's contemporaries. All this Reagan talk from the Dems is making me crazy.
