At least two of those are novelettes but Loneliness Universe might be my top novelette of the year if we’re counting those (The Brotherhood of Montague St. Video is pretty close though)
Same! I freaking love story collections. It's a marvel when writers can do them well. The ability to convey an entire story with mood and feeling in just 50-ish pages is amazing to me.
It's from the end of last year, but I cannot recommend "The Year Without Sunshine" by @naomikritzer.bsky.social from @uncannymagazine.bsky.social issue 55 enough
also i guest edited the MERCURIAL issue of Apparition Lit this year and while ALL the stories knocked my socks off? this one lives rent free in my brain:
