We're at it again! Join us for a casual ride to build confidence, meet other cyclists, & learn safe, comfortable bike routes while exploring the urban core (we may even stop for coffee!) We'll be riding the 1st & 3rd Sundays of the month, meeting up @ 9:45am at Henry & Ola Park. Come bike with us!

Keep an eye out for openings on your local planning and zoning boards as well. Many of them are appointed and have trouble finding enough volunteers to fill the seats! 🇺🇸

Want to be a more confident urban cyclist but aren’t sure how? Join me for Easy Sunday Morning Ride! We’ll ride the soon-to-be Ola Avenue Bikeway down to Armature Works & beyond. This is a very casual pace ride. Meet at Henry & Ola Park at 9:45 am Sunday (2/16)—we’ll roll out at 10. Wear a helmet!

This is funny, because when I got home and saw the box, my first reaction was “bummer, apple.” Then I cut into one and was thrilled to see it was raspberry.

This has been our house go-to marinara for years. Last week Sprouts had an insane 99-cent sale on Rao's jarred sauce, so we tried it. It was meh compared to this. For the cost of a can of crushed tomatoes and 5 minutes of prep/20 minutes of simmer, this sauce just can't be beat.

The most remarkable thing about you Standing in the doorway is that it's you And that you are standing in the doorway

DYK that HART route 1 picks up and drops off less than a 5-minute walk from the Straz and is FREE through Jan. 2026? www.hillsboroughschools.org/cms/lib/FL50...

What's the link between zero-fare transit and public health? Research is ongoing, but early results in Kansas City point to promising results. Check out this piece, which includes insights from my colleague Amy Scrivner! #zerofare #transit #publichealth reasonstobecheerful.world/free-transit...

"In keeping with my oath and duty to Constitution and country, I affirm what I believe and what three-fourths of the states have ratified: the 28th Amendment is the law of the land, guaranteeing all Americans equal rights and protections under the law regardless of their sex." - President Biden

Interesting, we built this road for cars, but hardly anybody uses it. Clearly, this is a waste of taxpayer money. Funny how the same logic gets thrown at bike lanes, ignoring how their lack of safety and poor design often keep people from using them.

Read the whole series. The breadth, depth, and details made my stomach churn.

And the CHICAGO CUBS will beat every team in the league and the TAMPA BAY BUCS Will make it ALL THE WAY TO JANUARY

OMG. Listening to people get on the bus and find out it’s fare-free for the whole year is the best. The whole bus is talking about it, and I just can’t stop smiling!

Could not wait until tomorrow! We’re taking the new FARE-FREE Route 1 bus to Sprouts for a few groceries.

🌱 Saw what looked like a sweet potato sticking out of the ground in the area we grew them this summer. Turns out when we harvested them in November we missed a few! #zone10a

I read more books last year than I have in over a decade. I started reading again toward the end of 2023 and created a modest goal of reading 15 books in 2024. I got through that by March, and ended up finishing 66 books. These are my stats, courtesy of @thestorygraph.com.

Got too many old towels? Cut them up into smaller (around 12”x12” size) pieces and place in a basket in the kitchen. They’ve replaced paper towels for almost everything and can be added to any load of laundry. It takes about 3 months for us to go through a roll of paper towels now.

Started 2025 in the best way—on bikes with friends. Went down to The Nosey Goat, the new coffee spot that replaced the Cass Street Caffeine. Pastries were delicious. Weather for the ride couldn’t have been better—67 and sunny!

Someone is still sleeping off last night.

Spending my favorite day in my favorite way, riding the Hawthorne trail. This chilly solstice couldn’t be more perfect!

In Dec. 2023, Montpellier, France became largest European city to offer fully fare-free transit. The results a year later: The city’s tram & bus system now carries 33% more riders than in 2019, reaching 110 million annual riders & peaks of >500,000 riders/day (urban area has ~500,000 residents).

Somehow this doggo has not toppled the tree yet.

It is the 12th anniversary of 12/12/12, which means it is the 12th anniversary of @lynnhurtak.com & me going to City Hall in Manhattan and getting married. And now it's on the City of Tampa's permanent record!

🍽️ Made pork dumplings for dinner.

This is what we need to be talking about in Tampa after Hurricanes Helene and Milton. But, somehow, we aren’t. Instead, we’re talking about resiliency and sustainability. We need to start the conversation with should we?
