And I’m sure that will continue once people start cutting expenses.
I know ONE couple who own a studio who I would say are doing well-ish and they bought a legacy studio in the 80’s and still have all sorts of other irons in the fire
No one wants to pay artists and people with creative backgrounds because we’re supposed to want to do it for the passion of creation! 🙄
I’ve been in the job market of almost a year and it’s bleak for an old school creative.
I got a Masters in Publishing and worked at a magazine a few years and I gotta say, “finding your voice” is one very small piece of the getting-paid puzzle. Agree—it’s bleak out here.
The most damning indictment of computer technology's impact on education and childhood is that the people who actually work on that technology for a living demand as little of it as possible in the lives of their own children.
I teach at a school where many children's parents work in Silicon Valley. My students write by hand and use books for research. Parents agree that's what they want for their kids.
That's cuz they have money. I highly encourage my kids to include arts, mindfulness, etc daily while pursuing careers they enjoy, that pay the bills, and allow for a good life.
Of course. I teach in the heart of Silicon Valley. Parents want their kids handwriting essays (to avoid ChatGPT). They know these products are garbage for humanity.
Yes but it’s also because they know their kids won’t need to make money. Not that anyone will be able to make money, but basically they know that they will supply their kids’ money, so they want their kids to have meaningful jobs with purpose.
So the tech world thinks creative jobs are less vulnerable to AI...while also constantly pushing AI into creative fields? So is the tech world knowingly selling useless products, then?
Creativity and imagination lead us to new horizons as Jules Vernes when he writes goals that skippers aimed to break down like voguing around the world in less than 80 days !

What Elon wants for his kids and rich kids…
Those are the same kinds of jobs they’re busily trying to undermine, so confused
