I went back and took out HP referenced from a book I pubbed years before JKR outed herself as a massive shit heel. No reason to keep this shit going. In my worlds, she doesn’t exist.

I used to be super into those books, but first I grew up and then JK started running her mouth and making it impossible to even be nostalgic for them- the only one I find works its way into my common usage is the reference to drinking unicorn blood to extend your life at a severe cost

And it’s still not worth invoking her work just to mention it. Whenever I do I inevitably spend the next few sentences complaining about her. Most of my friends don’t even realize how into Harry Potter I was because of how bad I harp on it- but that passionate hatred comes from a sense of betrayal

I have a cis friend who is super supportive of trans people. But when I mentioned visting Universal Studios, he gushed about the friggin’ HP area of the park and told us we should check it out, and it really drove home to me how most people just don’t even know about JKR’s whole deal.

That is indeed part of it. My coworker and I were talking about her relative being huge into HP still, and even she herself didn't even really know much about JKR being terrible. And she's a youngin in her twenties to my aged forties.

yeah it’s especially tough in new stuff that’s just come out

still bad in old stuff, but in the new stuff it really feels like how could they not know? and so we wonder if maybe they do
