Even from a pro-BSL perspective, the problem is that bans are a big deal. They cause controversy, some upset, would be extra difficult with KC-recognised breeds. They generally take a long time - a lot of people have to die before a ban is even considered, let alone implemented.

A more agile system which discouraged people from certain types of dog would be helpful. Introduce a 'category B', restricted breeds: they can still be bred and rehomed, but owners need to be vetted and licensed, and have public liability insurance. Dogs could be added to this category more quickly.

I imagine there would be around 20 types on it, including some KC breeds. The ultimate aim here is to nudge normal people away from these breeds. Make it more hassle, more costly to own them. It's better in every conceivable way if a family buys a Spaniel rather than a Cane Corso...

...and I think it's fine to acknowledge that and encourage it, which is why I disagree with breed neutral legislation. But just banning one breed every decade or so, after they've killed ~20 people, isn't effective BSL either. It can be done better.
TL;DR - restrict Cane Corso rather than ban.
