Well now. Yes, it would probably be beneficial for public safety if the Cane Corso was banned. But while I do think breed-specific legislation is fundamentally sensible, the current "ban or nothing" approach isn't ideal. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Already looking forward to it!

The new UCL Swiss system has worked better than I thought it would, I must admit. More drama than the old groups have provided in recent years (decades, really), and the matches between big teams have been much more relevant than expected. But it really does go on for way too long.

US is being so passive here. I know this is a bit simplistic, but maybe - just once - try actually saying no to Erdogan.

Puffins, Kittiwakes, Razorbills—the UK’s decision to end sandeel fishing was a hard-won lifeline for our struggling seabirds. The EU’s move to challenge it risks undoing that progress. 🚨 We urge the Commission to support, not undermine, this key step for marine biodiversity.

Snowwww!

Not quite enough to make up for calling Elon Musk the smartest man in the world, but it's a start. :) www.bbc.co.uk/sport/golf/a...

Stirchley McDonalds? Seems like a really poor location for it in terms of the impact on traffic and on the houses very close by. Also we're not exactly short on food options - it'd be nice to see the site used for something the community is missing (a gym?) www.change.org/p/reject-the...

St Pauli leave X, describing it as a 'hate machine' and expressing concern it may influence the outcome of the forthcoming German election. Story: @nickames82.bsky.social

We’re building a movement to protect British wildlife from being hunted or killed for ‘sport’. If you’re reading this and support what we stand for then please repost and drop us a follow here on BlueSky. We’re on a mission to reach 2,000 followers!

Sad story. I'm increasingly losing patience with fireworks, even though I've always loved them. Probably best if we just have large, well-situated organised displays really. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Seeing how quiet my Twitter timeline has gone in the past couple of days is sad, but also quite heartening. The most notable thing is that some of the environmental charities/orgs I follow (both the Bat and Bumblebee Conservation Trusts, Protect the Wild, etc.) aren't on here yet. Come on guys!

Does anyone else get anxious about birds in/near roads? If I'm walking and there's a bird on the pavement in front of me, I'll slow down or sometimes come to a complete stop until there's no traffic coming that they might fly into. Apart from crows - I'm confident that crows have good road sense.

I'm fairly tolerant of my chosen party not doing everything I'd like, but I absolutely will not vote for Labour again if this continues to be their attitude to animal welfare for the next five years. I guess we all have our red lines? www.theguardian.com/environment/...

What a day this is turning out to be. I know golf is a bit of a wasteland when it comes to decent people, but I'd always held out hope that Rory was ok. www.theguardian.com/sport/2024/n...

It's a bleak old day. What are we supposed to do now? I'm trying not to be too melodramatic, but things feel a bit pointless. I suppose a cup of lapsang souchang and some Adachi Mitsuru manga is as good a place to start as any.

I wasn't sure how to start posting here, but eventually figured I should maybe go back to what I'd post in the early days of Twitter: music. So! Is this not just a perfect pop song? Why am I not hearing this on Radio 2 all the time? www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HPm...
