I trust it is. But public money requires balancing values. It requires questioning & funding sources can be created not just via public money ie Fundraising models & donors. Canada income tax is as high as 53% for wealth earners. Compared to Florida at 37%. Corporate tax discourages investment. Businesses are needed for job creation so we can work to put food on the table & retirement days. Business go to other countries with lower taxes. Wealthy donate to nonprofits.

This is destroying important health research, where the US has been an important leader. Some of this may be taken on by other countries, but really, we need all countries to maintain or boost their programs to move ahead of live-saving cures. This is not an area to shortchange.

I feel we lack information on process of how decisions on projects are funded. Holding on to sacred cows has to stop. We have to reevaluate and adapt. Create business cases instead will help establish data driven decisions to invest in research. We need to change process of decisions making.

Funding changes will require more discernment in choosing what projects we should invest in. Time to bring out the business case model so deep analysis to see problems being solved. Sacred cow culture must end. Prove instead with data what problem is being solved and if it gets to the root cause
