Growing up in the 90's, pop culture pushed a very consistent message:

✓ aliens are real
✓ they abduct people all the time
✓ they're all into butt stuff for some reason

Fox aired a prime time special called "Alien Autopsy" attempting to prove that someone once dissected a grey and filmed it. It got huge ratings

The first episode of South Park is about Cartman getting abducted by aliens. It's called "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe"

I saw “Fire in the Sky” in the theater and it scared and scarred me for life. Chills just thinking about it.
