A bay scallop from Potter's Cove RI this one inhaling a full load of water in prep to escape. You can see the ctenidia (gills) and other internal bits through the gape. The gills are just visible behind the upper mantle (large white organs with tentacle at the edges) at the center. 🧪🐙🐡🦑
