The devastation on its way is unimaginable - like nothing humanity has ever witnessed before - and everyone will wish they had been climate activists and ‘hysterics’ when they had the chance. We are in a moment of unprecedented stupidity

I see so many people resigning us to extinction, but I didn't hear a bell. This isn't the time to say "We're cooked," this is the time to fight even harder against greed and ignorance! Hope is one of the few things keeping me going, and I have hope we can prepare and heal our planet eventually.

Renewables deployment is accelerating, cell-based and precision fermentation about to disrupt our unsustainable food production. Buying time for real solutions to do their thing is essential.

My bet is that it’ll happen once millions die in a heatwave, and a country post disaster - from India to US - will do it unilaterally, then it dominoes from there. Hopefully it flowers into a global effort.

They did. But that’s expected. It’s shrug off, we go back to normal, zip is done. It’s when we can’t shrug anymore, stuff changes.
20yrs I’ve been concerned, response is almost always reactive.
Ex: NYC got a wakeup call post Sandy, barely, & if this was every year, we’d airlift the nyfd up yearly.

I’m not an end-of-the-world doomer but frick, it’s looking bleak, & eventually it’ll be everywhere too much for any state to fully ignore. Some peeps always will but change, adaption will be obligatory, always is.

I know. Would be amazing! Geothermal will likely follow the same trend. We're about to / have the potential to become a post scarcity society, but it won't happen if we're more scared of a vital piece of the solution than we are of losing our habitable planet.

Love your vision of a post scarcity society. Once PF products are significantly cheaper than present meat and dairy and the corporations see handsome profits can be made, then we could see a very quick adoption of these new foods. Especially true if the corporate marketeers get behind it.

Hopefully it speeds up significantly, as climate change is already hacking away at our food security at the current 1.6C above preindustrial, and it'll get worse as we decarbonize since fossil fuel aerosols are currently cooling the climate by 0.5-1.0C.
