Yep. I never follow back immediately unless 1) I have enough interactions with someone over long enough time that I know they're sane. Or 2) Certain mutuals I respect highly also follow that person. Then it's a no-brainer.

To be honest? I could care less about stats. I don't know how many followers I have or how many people I'm following and it doesn't matter. I'm here to see if I can't enjoy some social media again, and gain worthwhile things from it. Books to read, movies to watch, solid news.

Agreed. People don’t vet. I’ve seen accounts with zero posts, or just a couple, and thousands of followers. Substance definitely is lacking. I attribute it to us all being “new.” I’m hopeful the situation will improve.
