one example that comes up in my practice: when people who get lots of transfusions over their lifetime (eg people with sickle cell) need another blood transfusion, the bloodbank often calls to warn us "it will take a while, they have a bunch of antibodies" ie to the other non-A/B/Rh antigen

eg Newtonian physics works very well for stuff at our scale but when you get really small, really big, or really fast, you need different stuff to be useful (quantum mechanics, general relativity, special relativity)
a lot of the basic stuff we learned in high school or Bio 101 is a pretty big dumbing down, particularly a lot of the genetic stuff
biology is pretty complicated sometimes
