Funny thing is that with Musk’s TikTok and X and Mark’s WhatsApp and Tulsi’s NSA and Israeli Pegasus and Thiel’s Palantir there is not a single phone on earth that the New Reich could not access fully. US real Journalists should avoid balconies. And don’t think about migrating to Canada 🤯
I agree that neo-Nazi would be the better label, but I wonder if they'll be lumped in with Nazis decades from now. (Anyway, here's an article about Elon supporting German neo-Nazis a couple weeks ago)
One of the most damaging impacts Musk has had on humanity so far is a) killing consumer confidence in fully electric vehicles and b) killing ordinary people's interest in space exploration.
While we understand him now he enjoyed a decade of impunity, gaslighting millions of intelligent people into thinking he was a genius who was going to save humanity.
Early naysayers who saw the red flags and tried to warn people were shouted down or ignored.
And so we ended up with public resources that might otherwise have gone into public transit infrastructure, high speed rail, and NASA go towards Hyperloop and SpaceX.
Musk has been a bigger millstone on the neck of actual progress than the fossil fuel giants since at least 2010 when quantitative easing kicked in. He's been instrumental in killing people's hope for humanity's future, almost uniquely so, through his sheer hubris and incompetence.
I think that Huxley got it wrong in his way too prophetic novel: the T that people were worshipping in Brave New World weren't for Ford's Model T but for Tesla. Just not the one from Huxley's era.
Ford's antisemitism is barely known unfortunately. He still seems to as one of the great Entrepreneurs that makes the modern USA, something similar to how many see Musk too. And very much aligned with the fictitious myth in Brave New World.
Add his belief in eugenism (superiority of one's genes), the division in classes (he's Alpha, most people are Gamma, so he needs to bring Betas in the country to work for him), the neuralink and strong usage of drugs to "enhance his cognitive performance"... Almost everything about Musk is in BNW.
Ford actually had commercially viable ideas. I mean, you’re absolutely correct on general awfulness, but what’s crazy about Elon is how he hasn’t even contributed to business strategies. People like to concede industrial competence to fascists, and ok, but not the new guys.
Anybody remember when Capt Lorca on Star Trek Discovery mentioned him as one of history's greats, along with Ford?
Then it turns out that character was from the mirror universe, so he was either referring to his Elon, which would be closer to Tony Stark, or our Elon, whom he admired villainously.
The saddest thing is his involvement is probably going to be mostly memory holed the way stuff like the Business Plot has been. When schools have to teach Trump it's probably going to be incredibly whitewashed and you'll be lucky to hear of Musk literally paying people to vote.
He’s the definitive proof that merit doesn’t means wealth.
If your parents are rich you can be utterly stupid and just inherit their wealth, surrounded by intelligent people that will solve your problems. Just like the inbred nobility of the past.
Elon is an example of how MBAs running the economy is a stupid idea. He's slightly more technically skilled than a business school graduate, which means he is able to run companies that actually make stuff instead of what most of CEO america is doing. And for this he's worshipped as a "genius".
It's my sincere hope that future students of history look back on the advanced capitalist conditions of the late 20th to early 21st centuries the way students today recoil in horror at antebellum chattel slavery, or regard medieval feudalism as backwards, barbarous even.

So being a new wave of nazi doesn't really change the core problem here.
He's a corporate entity trying to use reactionary politics to drive his agenda through fear mongering of minority groups and undermine democracy.

Like talking about the early 21st century should make students cringe to death.
