Nearly 30 years ago one of my 1st jobs after graduating was a set of case studies for the International Energy Agency on reducing emissions from the oil and gas industry. CCS was the most promising. But since then, it's moved nowhere.
It sounds plausible at first, but dig a bit deeper it falls apart

I think ccs keeps its legs due to otherwise very smart liberal people who actually believe in climate change. It feels like a simple high-tech solution to a big problem. As opposed to what it really is—capturing co2 from coal plants and use it to pump out oil in offshore water rigs./

Fracking had the same selling point. Natural gas is clean, you’re saving the planet.
