In college I wrote an essay on a sort of funny intergenerational food pattern in my family: grandma hated cooking, never really taught my mom; mom was solo parenting an extremely picky eater, was more interested in survival than skill; taught myself to cook online. Seems kinda common now!

My mom experimented with magazine recipes, to varying levels of success.
I had to learn from cookbooks and TV cooking shows. Traveling overseas really kicked me into gear though.
