I changed my career path entirely because I felt helpless during the pandemic. Now I am doing work that is very close to Our Current Challenges and I still feel extremely fucking helpless.

I teach high school and I’m constantly torn between “these kids a space away from All That’s Happening” and “Our Current Challenges are the only thing that matters.” Sucks!

FWIW, I think teaching kids (or really any other kind of direct service work to human beings) might be the noblest thing one could do in These Unprecedented Times.
