We felt it very very clearly in Aldergrove. My wife says her office chair was shaking and the house loudly creaked. My boss felt it in Walnut Grove as well.

That’s the gap between the faster P wave and the S wave that propagates more slowly. The farther away you are, the longer the gap will be!

I’m about 100 miles from the epicenter. Someone closer said the gap was about 10 seconds, mine was definitely longer, now it makes sense. Thank you! I’ve been in a couple big ones, I really don’t like them :)

I read somewhere that the typical gap is around one second per 8 km distance. So for 100 mi ≈ 160 km, figure about 20 seconds. I under it varies depending on the composition of the ground though
